Meet The Panel: Miranda Hudson

Miranda Hudson may not be an instantly recognisable name in isolation; but over the last two years Miranda has been a major contributing force behind the Duration Brewing project.  The brewery which will be situated in rural Norfolk, in a renovated previously derelict barn on the site of a 12 century priory, is set to be transformed into a destination farmhouse brewery.  Alongside husband Bates (formerly head brewer at Brew By Numbers) Miranda has poured herself headlong into the project of realising the brewery; from securing the brewery site, through to development of the brewery vision (fundraising and developing the marketing strategy) and realising the brewery equipment load out (a high-end 20BBL brewkit and koelschip/wood division).  Prior to her involvement in Duration Brewing however Miranda was much more a passive drinker/observer of the industry at large, which definitely makes her achievements over the last two years all the more impressive.

Before Duration Miranda worked in many creative outlets in London; from costumier to styling to running a photography studio.  Retraining as an interior designer in the earlier 2000’s, the family home was subsequently transformed into an Air B’n’B during a period of maternity leave.  The stability of this allowed Miranda more time to dedicate to charity work eventually taking up the CEO position of Snehalaya UK in 2014; a charity principally involved in providing rescue, refuge and rehabilitation for women and children in rural India, often for people who have been trafficked or are in the sex industry.

By 2018 Miranda and Bates were now several months into the Duration Brewing project and we have been fascinated by the whole process which has been documented via blogs and videos throughout.

We think you’ll agree with us when we say that Miranda brings with her a fascinating perspective on the brewing industry.  Her previous work in the charity sector however has also allowed her to develop a powerful voice on empowerment and its this combined knowledge that she will be bringing to The Birmingham Beer Debate; tickets and full details of the event can be found via the link here.
